Product Detail
The Novation Bass Station II Analog Monosynth offers a unique blend of classic and modern synthesis. Its signature sound comes from flexible, digitally - controlled oscillators (DCO’s), classic waveforms, and a warm analogue 12db / 24db filter, combined with real - time MIDI transmission. This rare feature allows you to capture and record expressive live ‘tweaking’ and automate parameters, making it ideal for both studios and live performances.
After the success of the original Bass Station, the Bass Station Rack was released in 1994 with significant improvements. It had expanded memory, an LCD display for easy sound navigation, and enhanced MIDI - related features. The rack version also boasted better I/O, including switchable CV and Gate in and out, an external input for the filter, and MIDI thru for seamless rack integration.
Key Features:
- Two pure analogue, sync - able and tuneable oscillators with four waveforms, a sub - oscillator, noise, and ring modulation.
- A multi - mode Classic Filter with low, hi, and band pass options and 12 and 24dB slopes.
- A darker, wetter, and smoother 24dB Acid Filter.
- Fully analogue distortion, filter - modulation effects, and a separate filter overdrive for aggressive sounds.
- Comes with 64 patches and allows you to create, save, archive, and swap 64 of your own.

Using the Novation Bass Station II is a breeze. First, connect it to your computer via USB MIDI for both connection and power, or use the included 9V DC power supply. The 25 - note synth - action keyboard is where you start creating music. Use the aftertouch and modulation wheel to add expression to your sounds. You can assign different functions to these controls according to your preference.
To create unique sounds, play around with the oscillators. You have two main oscillators, a sub - oscillator, and a noise generator. Select from different waveforms like sine, triangle, sawtooth, and square. Sync the oscillators, detune them, or adjust the octave range to get the desired pitch.
The filters are a key part of the synth. Switch between the Classic and Acid filters. The Classic filter has low, hi, and band pass options with 12 and 24dB slopes, while the Acid filter gives a darker and smoother sound. Adjust the cutoff, resonance, and overdrive to shape your sound.
When it comes to envelopes, you have two ADSR envelopes (Amp and Mod). You can choose between single trigger, multi - trigger, and autoglide modes. The LFOs add movement to your sounds. Select different waveforms for the LFOs and adjust the rate and delay time.
The step sequencer and arpeggiator are great for creating patterns. You can create up to 32 different patterns, select different octave ranges, and choose from various directions like up, down, or random.
Here are some important notes. Make sure not to exceed the maximum power consumption of 9V DC 300mA. When cleaning the synth, use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you're not using the synth for a long time, store it in a safe place, preferably in its original box.
