Product Detail

The EMG 35-TW-X is an outstanding bass pickup that offers two great tonal options in one unit. It combines a single-coil and a humbucker, both boosted by the EMG X Series preamp for better dynamic response and clear sound. In single-coil mode, it acts like the JCSX pickup, using ceramic and steel magnets to give a warm, rich tone. Switch to humbucker mode, and you'll get a powerful, aggressive sound with a strong mid-range. The X Series preamp gives the 35-TW-X a wider dynamic range and more headroom while keeping the balance between strings. It has an Active Tone Control (VLPF) that cuts high frequencies, just like a passive tone control, making it a quiet single-coil pickup that mixes active and passive sound features. If you're thinking of installing two TWX pickups in one instrument, each needs a push/pull pot to switch between single-coil and humbucker modes. So, it's not a good idea to use EMG's BT or BQ Systems with a balance control. If you want a balance control, use a DPDT toggle switch instead. Key features include a dual-mode design, an X Series preamp for better range and clarity, an Active Tone Control for high-frequency cut, noiseless single-coil operation, and easy switching with a push/pull pot. Technical specs show a copper logo, ceramic and steel magnets, a 3.50 kHz resonant frequency, and more. It comes with a 25k active tone pot, a push/pull pot, a battery bus, and other accessories.

Using the EMG 35-TW-X bass pickup is easy. First, install it in your bass following the included instructions. You can switch between the single-coil and humbucker modes using the push/pull pot. In single-coil mode, you'll get a warm and rich tone, perfect for classic bass sounds. For a more aggressive and powerful sound, switch to humbucker mode. The Active Tone Control (VLPF) can be adjusted to cut high frequencies and get the tone you like. Remember, if you're installing two TWX pickups, each needs its own push/pull pot. Don't use EMG's BT or BQ Systems with a balance control. Instead, use a DPDT toggle switch if you want balance control. To maintain your pickup, keep it clean and dry. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or moisture. Check the battery regularly, as it has a life of about 1500 hours. Replace the battery when it runs out to keep the pickup working well.
