The Hughes & Kettner RED BOX 5 is the newest version of the award - winning guitar cabinet speaker simulation. It comes with new filtering options for different housing sizes (small or large), speaker types (modern or vintage), and cabinet responses (loose or tight). Unlike a mic’ed cab, the RED BOX 5 sounds exactly like the real cab. Its clear and direct sound will surely impress every experienced PA tech and studio engineer. Many of today's best - sounding guitar tracks use a combination of a microphone and the RED BOX 5, or run the pure RED BOX 5 signal through software plug - ins that emulate microphones and rooms, creating a perfect blend of ambience and direct attack. Technical specs include a 6.3 mm (1/4“) jack input and thru, a balanced XLR output. It can be phantom - powered (48 Volts, 10mA), and also supports an external power supply (9 - 24 Volts AC or DC, optional) or a 9 - Volt battery (optional). It measures 115 x 40 x 60 mm and weighs 0.2 kg.

Using the Hughes & Kettner RED BOX 5 is easy. First, connect your guitar to the 6.3 mm (1/4“) jack input. Then, you can connect an output device to the balanced XLR output. You can choose to power it using phantom power (48 Volts, 10mA), an external power supply (9 - 24 Volts AC or DC), or a 9 - Volt battery.
